We had a chance to hang out with Floris, Manager of Aethos Ericeira, about his journey through hospitality and the perspective that guides his work today. From his early beginnings in Belgium and formative experiences alongside Michelin-starred chefs in France, to an evolving career that brought him from Lisbon to South America and back to Portugal, Floris embodies a thoughtful, people-first approach to leadership — one shaped by curiosity, understated style, and a deep connection to Lisbon and Ericeira, the places he now proudly calls home.
Can you tell us your story so far?
Born and raised in Belgium. At 16 moved to Hotel school in Belgium and started my career trough traineeships and first jobs in France with some of the greatest chefs and Michelin starred restaurants. Than i took a Job as pool boy in Lisbon, and grew up trough various positions such as Sales and Marketing, Events etc. From there moved to Brazil and Peru for around 10 years and now back since a few years in Portugal with the Family.
Next steps?
Make the best we can with Aethos Ericeira and build further for the continued success of the Hotel. Aethos is growing very fast with the Members Club in Lisbon, ongoing construction of our Lisbon Hotel which will be great additions to the portfolio.

Lisbon and Ericeira have always had a special place since I first arrived over 20 years ago.
What does style mean to you?
Unforced and natural, consistent and not loud.
What motivated you to get started with your business?
Passion and curiosity for people.
What's the Band/Music Style/Music Artist that inspires you?
Mid century furniture, Landscaping, Keith Jarrett or Mos Def for example, Luc Tuymans and Art in general.
Any guilty pleasures worth mentioning?
Japanese food and Onsen bathing.
