Primal Moves Lisbon lives inside a beautifully restored space of stone arches and warm terracotta walls; part gym, part sanctuary, entirely unlike anywhere else you'd expect to move, flow and sweat. Founded by Nick Brewer and now rooted in Ibiza, Barcelona, Venice LA and Lisbon, Primal Moves builds its practice around one simple line: think less, move more, breathe. It's floor based inspired movement, bipedal and quadrupedal, ground-based and unpretentious, paired with sauna and ice bath rituals (from Autumn ’26) that turn a class into something closer to a reset.
What's the Primal Moves story so far?
It started with a question most gyms never ask: what if we moved the way we were built to, before chairs and screens got in the way? Nick Brewer built the Method around that idea, using bodyweight across the floor, squatting, and flowing through body conditioning sequences. What began in Ibiza has grown into a small international family of studios, each one adapted to its city whilst sharing the same root.
What is the Method, really?
Four progressive series; Primal, Moves, Progressions & Handstands, each building strength and mobility through closed-chain and multi-planar movement done mostly on the floor. It's less about reps and more about relearning coordination between all four limbs, the kind of full-body intelligence we lose sitting at desks.

What should someone expect walking into the Lisbon studio for the first time?
Stone arches overhead, soft light, the quiet hum of a space that used to be something else entirely and now feels made for this. No mirrors to perform for, no machines to hide behind, just a floor, a group, and a coach guiding you through movement that feels almost primitive in the best sense.
Best spot in Lisbon?
Anywhere the city still breathes, a rooftop at golden hour, the walk down to the river before the heat sets in. Lisbon rewards slowness, and that's exactly the pace the studio tries to hold onto once you're through the door.
What does movement mean to the Primal Moves community?
It's not about aesthetics. Movement here is treated as a language the body already knows, you’re just remembering the vocabulary. Structural longevity, balanced joints, a nervous system that isn't stuck in fight-or-flight. The physical follows the functional.

Beyond the mat?
Sauna to loosen everything the flow worked open, ice bath to remind you what stillness under pressure feels like. It's not a wellness add-on, it's part of the same practice: train hard, recover harder, repeat.
Next steps?
Keep showing up. The class schedule runs through the week, and the Lisbon studio is on Instagram @primalmoveslisbon for anyone who wants to see the space before booking a first class.
