Meet Yve from The Kynd Space

Meet Yve from The Kynd Space

Can you tell us your story so far?

During a global upbringing amongst Africa, Europe and the Middle East - including many years of incredible corporate learnings at tech giants like LinkedIn and Mindvalley - I deeply fell in love with movement. It became my refugee, every day, to feel alive and be my best for others & self.
For so long, I’ve been desiring to contribute to + disrupt the wellbeing industry “healthily”: making wellbeing more accessible for everyone, while allowing us all to press pause amidst a hustling society (myself included). Eventually, I emigrated to Portugal from London/Amsterdam (following the sun) where I built something that scaled beyond dreams within a blink: The Kynd Space.
An aesthetically (self)designed, large venue in Principe Real with furniture & arts ethically sourced and offering daily unique movement experiences for Yoga, Mat & Reformer Pilates, Barre mixed with nervous system regulation techniques like Pranayama, Meditation and Mindfulness. Now, I lead a beautiful team of almost 50 people, and it’s been a deep professional and personal exploration. A creative outlet without ceilings, and through which I’m able to build meaningful partnerships also outside our studio spaces - I love love love it! (Often losing track of time; Kynd is in my mind and heart from dust to dawn). I wished to build a sanctuary, a home away from home, and the community by now is beyond hundreds of locals, nomads and visitors.
Lastly, personally, I’m happiest outdoors, introverted by nature but extraverted at moments, lover of words and meaningful conversations are my fuel. And, I’m continuously learning what “balance” means in my life - cherishing more simplicity, softness and flow.

Next steps for you?

Conscious reflection, celebrations (of the immense scale we've created at The Kynd Space!) and innovation. My dream would be to bring Kynd beyond our physical walls. Stay tuned... so much is brewing behind the scenes. Events, online, education. No ceilings to opportunities! All will be including deepening community connections and continuing to innovate how we approach movement combined with nervous system resets.

Best spot in Portugal?

Praia do Magoito beach - Colares, Sintra - during sunset. The instant remedy for the nervous system and good vibes: for surfers, dogs (including my dog Ollie), and kind hearted humans. The sounds. The rawness. The confetti lights by the sun reflecting on the ripples of the sea.

What does style mean to you?

It's my outward expression of my inner essence, which differs daily and it's like silent language. I'm sensitive, meaning anything visual and tangible affects how I feel or influences my perception of things. I'm aware of many details at the same time of my surroundings - so style in general tells me many stories about people, and impacts how I experience moments. My fave style on me - personally - consists of earthy colours, extravagant earrings and flowy vibes.

What motivated you to get started with your business?

It marries my corporate background with my holistic passion for wellbeing. I've been desiring to disrupt the wellbeing industry, by making wellbeing more accessible while offering a multisensory experience to working out - where community is an integral point amidst all. I felt that was missing in many studio's - no heartbeat, no soul, and seemingly in it for body appearance and money. Moreover, aesthetic design in studio's and music-led workouts are to me also 2 key ingredients to the most effective and dreamiest classes; this too, I could not find properly in Lisbon. With The Kynd Space.

What's the Band / Music Style / Music Artist that inspires you?

Amistat. There is raw honesty and emotional intimacy; heartfelt songs and grounding. It allows me for introspection, and it has minimalist beauty through taking voices and lyrics taking the stage aside of acoustic guitar, piano and subtle strings.

Any guilty pleasures worth mentioning?

Oeh! A secret love note to my heart is definitely the combo of 100% choco + medjool dates + nut butter. All day, every day. Plus, losing track of time when reading a book while plans got unexpectedly cancelled. Oddly enough, "reading while walking with my dog". (If you ever spot a woman walking the streets with her nose in a kindle - may well be me!)
